Special Meeting for Parents of players born in 2008, 2009 and 2010
Aug 21, 2016, 9:48 pm

Dear Norwood Hornet Families,

The 2016-17 Executive is extremely excited about the upcoming year of Hornet’s Hockey!   As the hockey season quickly approaches we request that all parents of players with birthdates in 2008, 2009and 2010 please attend an information session on Thursday, August 25th at 7 pm in the Millennium Room at the Norwood Asphodel Community Centre.

We feel that a meeting would be beneficial to all families in this age bracket to discuss how:

  • The Representative and Leo League systems work.
  • How Norwood fits into these systems in the past and moving forward
  • How other centers fit into these systems and their impact on Norwood
  • Our present number of players at both Senior Tyke and Novice and options to maximize player development, enjoyment, and retention moving forward.

We urge all parents of players born in 2008, 2009 and 2010 to attend this important meeting in order to become informed, ask questions and make the best decisions for your son or daughter.   Please spread the word to other families that may be interested in signing up this year in Norwood to attend the information session as well. We have many exciting ideas to share and would like your feedback in order to continue to thrive and remain the exceptional hockey community we have become in Norwood.

Thank you in advance for putting this date on your busy calendars.

About the David Andrew’s Memorial Tournament- In 2008 Norwood and District Minor Sports created the David Andrews Bursary Fund in recognition of David Andrews, who passed away suddenly on December 9, 2007 at the young age of 20.  David played hockey with NDMS as well as being an OMHA referee.  David was an integral part of the 2001/2002 All-Ontario Bantam DD championships and was also a big part of the first Euro 2003 team to travel overseas to play in Europe.

Proceeds from this tournament go directly into the Bursary Fund which is awarded annually to a deserving player who is pursuing post-secondary education.  Thank you for supporting this meaningful and very special tournament!
